The history of National Volunteer Month dates back to the mid-20th century when numerous organizations and nonprofits began acknowledging the immense contributions of volunteers.

Upcoming Event: Sunday June 4th at 2pm – Online Gaming
Playing games can lower barriers to make new friends so let’s play some games online! We’ll start with Gartic Phone where it’s sort of like Telephone Pictionary and then, based on the number of people, we can play Spyfall or Fishbowl.

We had a great session with Molly Bundschuh, American Mensa’s Gifted Youth Program Manager about the Mensa Honor Society in August and I’ll be sharing the video with everyone as soon as it becomes available.

Summer break is almost here for many of you…hooray! Our next Region 8 Meetup will be on Sunday, June 4th at 2pm PT where we can hang out with each other while playing some online games.

Event Recap: Making and Keeping Good Friends
Our November virtual event with Dr. Marty Nemko, Secrets to Making and Keeping Good Friends, was a hit where we had 15 of 37 registrants attending the session where we talked a lot about our challenges with friendship and shared ideas on how to better connect with people we want to become our friends.
Gifted Youth Corner – July
One of the most common questions I receive from Gifted Youth parents is if they can host events in their local group for their gifted child to meet other young Mensans in their area. The short answer is “No, but…”.
